Cool

Alright,if you read my last post,"I'm Bored...How About A 1967 Pontiac GTO Project ???",you know that I'm thinking of tackling my own Ranger project with a 2WD if I don't get a GTO.I wanted a Splash, but I think that I'm going to try to get a 1994 or something around that. Now my Question:

I don't want to tackle building a Fuel Injected 5.0L 302.I want a straight out 302 with a Performer RPM Intake and a Holley 650 "Double-Pumper" Carb.I don't like trying to work on a Fuel Injected Engine knowing that I'm not that experienced with computers. Now that we have that out of the way...Is there any way Possible to hook up a Carbureated 302 with an HEI Distributor to a 1994 Ford Ranger? There are alot of computers in this truck unlike the 1984 that I did my conversion in.Anyway,I mean like connecting everything to the original Wiring Harnesses that came in the Ranger.Just let me know.

Thanks!
Izzy

if you use a carbed 302 with an hei distributor, all the electrical stuff will be useless. Where are you going to hook it up? Im not sure if the cooland temp sensor will give an accurate readin on the gauge though. You'll have to stick with a non electronic tranny too...somehting like a C4, AOD, or T-5. Youll probably have to switch the speedo to cable operated if its electric. Im not so sure about the other gauges, i know that the computer takes into consideration like everything about the engine to make adjustments. You might be better off throwin away all the computer stuff and buying some aftermarket gauges.

Cool

Well I didn't know on that matter lol.I am going to use a T-5 in this truck if I go this way. So,if I can get the gauges out of the way, what about the radio lol?Hell I was just thinking that the computer controlled the engine and the fuel system lol.

Oh well,it's going to be hard to replace the gauges I believe. There's just that one solid panel that has all of the gauges in it,all together. It's hard to explain lol. It's not like an older muscle cars unfortunately. If you want,I'll get you a pic of the gauge cluster.I guess that a person could make his own gauge cluster panel if he wanted. All that I need is like an 1/8" piece of steel and start cutting lol.Anyway, let me know if you want the pic.

Thanx!

Performer Intake is more for economy, and torque (idle-5500). Performer RPM is more for street performance (1500-6500). If you want a torquey 302, get the performer and a 600cfm. If you want a little more over the top power, get the RPM and the 650. A double pumper might not be a good idea unless you have really low gears, otherwise it'll bog and a vacuum secondary might be better.

Cool

Thanks Guys.

I need a torquey 302 for racing reasons if I ever decide too .

Anyway,I was thinking earlier on the Transmission. If I can't get my hands on a T-5,which Ford Auto would I need?I mean like the older models with no damned electronics lol.Put a shift kit in it and go.Know what I mean?A C4 or C6?Is there a C5 lol?Anyway, let me know what would be best!

Thanx!
