ford 351 cam in a 302

I was told recently that I coud put the camshaft (stock) from my 351 Ford
in my 302 for preformance improvmence. If so, do any of you have instalation advice or special requirments?

First, I'd check the cam specs. The 351W had a little more aggresive pattern, but I'm not sure the increase would justify the work. The main difference is to remember that all 351Ws had a different firing order than the early 302 so will need changed. It is the same as a late 5.0 engine which changed to the 351W style firing order in the early 80s.

It's a waste of time.

For 49$ you can buy a nice performance cam from summit. I really like the sum-3602.

351 cam in 302

thanks for the pointers. It is no extra work, since i am rebuilldilg both engines . i am going to sell the 02

Incorrect. 5.0s have the same 302 firing order through 90. Only the HOs and last few made in Explorers had the W firing order.
