I have a 1973 Ford F100 and it has a big block 360 FE motor under the hood and i was wondering if i could put the crank and heads from a 390 onto my 360 and end up with a 390 or if i could put a 428 crank into my 360 and some aftermarket aluminum heads and end up with some large c.i.d

The 360/390 uses the same block. You can put the 390 crank in to achieve 390ci. The 428 crank will give you 410ci. Just be sure to match/use the correct rods and pistons.
EDELBROCK makes excellent aluminum heads and intake manifold for the FE. Make a real nice pickup engine. |

To make a 390 out of a 360 you will need a 390 crankshaft and connecting rods. To use a 428 crankshaft you will need the 390 rods and 410 Mercury pistons. The motor will have to be rebalanced if you do not use the 428 flywheel/flexplate, vibration dampner and front crankshaft spacer with counter weight. Most garden variety 360 heads are the same as 390 heads so use what you have unless you want the aftermarket aluminum heads.
