Ford 393 stroker crank

Hey Everyone,

Iím just wondering, I have a 1969 351 W which has the shorter deck height, can a 393 stroker crank be dropped in without having to make clearance in the block. A standard stroke for a 351 is 3.5 and the 393 crank is 3.85. My motor is already built it is just a 351 .030 over. KB hyper pistons and alum heads. The cam is a comp cam 270H .500 lift intake and exh. Edelbrock RPM intake and a holley 750 carb. ARP bolts used throughout the whole motor. The deck was skimed for straightness nothing major. So like I asked, can the 393 stroker crank drop in with no other changes? Thanks for your help ahead of time.

Thanks
Craig

Think about it, if the motor is zero decked, the piston's are going to be raised .35 in the bore. You'll need pistons made for whatever length rods you're using, more likely than not the block will need clearancing, and possibly a small base circle cam. That's all just stroker sense, I'm not a Ford guy, someone will pop on here sooner or later and give you some Ford specific info I'm sure.

393 stroker crank

Thanks for your reply, I know that for this stroker setup, this is the only one that ford has that uses the stock rod length. Thats why i was wondering if it would drop right in. I know with most stroker applications, modifications are needed in the block to clear the crank.

The 393 stroker uses a special crank, 351W rods and 302 pistons. So if you have 351W pistons on your rods and slap in the 393 crank the pistons will be out of the block. You will also have to do some clearance work at the bottom of the block. I don't remember who makes it but there is a template you can buy for doing this.
