since toploaders are getting pricey,is there a 4 speed from the truck line that is similar to the toploader? what year/s & models should i look for to put behind a small block? there is a junk yard not to far away that specializes in ford trucks so maybe i could find what i need/want. thanks.
Top Loader production ended with the 1973 model year and was reintroduced in 1977 as an overdrive model. In 1979, the main case was aluminum along with internal shift rails.
20% Overdrive Gear Ratios (77/78 Granada/79 and later six cylinders) 3.29/1.84/1.00/.80
30% Overdrive Gear Ratios (79 and later V8) 3.07/1.72.1.00/.70
They can be found in pickups and vans of that era also.
Thanks for the info !
now if & when this COLD weather breaks,i`ll be doing some junk yard treasure hunting.
