ford 400m 2v or 4v??

Does anyone know what would be a better fit on my 78 ford 400m a 2v carb or 4v? My truck is low geared so MPG is alittle bit of a concern. However I've been told that 4v might actually save you on MPG. This truck is just a DD. Thanks for the reply

Carb and mileage

A 4brl will get better gas mileage if you stay out of the secondarys due to the primarys being smaller than your 2only on a 2brl, but punch er open and the fun begins but the gas station gets closer.

stick with the 2bbl, not worth the money. if all you want is mpg then better to chnage trans to overdrive. but in he long run it is hard to get a payback unless you drive a lot.

Hello

Well the first question.
Are you going to purchase a new intake?
Edelbrock makes both 2 & 4bbl. allu. intakes for the 400

Is this an automatic or manual?

What gear do you have now?

1.21

Hi

The 1.21 is a 350cfm carb.

Prob. 1 of best 2bbl. out there. I run a 1.23 on my 351W circle track car.

They are easy to rebuild & set. They have a power valve like the Holley.
You only have to take off the top to change jets.
Choke can be manual or electric.( I don't have 1 - lol )

Junk 2brl

I just put an Edelbrock performer intake(used-CHEAP-price) and a 625 cfm Edlbrock carb on a 77F250 w a 400 and it never performed so good and the mileage went up substanially. Telling you good choice, truck really kicks now.
