ford 8 installation techniques??

when I removed my ford 8 inch there were copper crush washers on the lower 6 bolts that were a B*&#h to get off. when I put the rear back in it should I a). use a gasket b). use rtv gasket maker c). both a&b and also should I use these crush washers or something along that line or is just torqueing them enough? oh and do you recommend (dare I ask) synthetic or regular lube? I replaced the ring and pinion 3.00 to 3.80 and installed a right lock locker in it. thanks again.

The copper washers are actually seals that prevent lubricant from seeping from around the mounting studs. FORD should still service these. I personally prefer the correct paper gasket. If you can see the cost of a synthetic, so much the better.
