Ford 8 in.rear disc brakes

I was thinking of adding disc brakes to a Maverick 8 inch rearend.
Along with that I would like to add a emergency brake also.
Does anyone know of a kit to do this? Or, what donor car should I get the parts from ?

When you say 8", are you speaking of the 8.8"? If so, yo can grab a rearend out of a Lincoln LSC or an 87-88 Turbo Coupe. You will need to change out the mc for a different one. When I did my MUstang, I used one from a Crown Vic, using a 5.0 Mustang booster. For what it's worth, auto T-Coupes, 3:73's, and 5spd cars are 3:55. You can tell the difference at a glance, 5spds have dual exhaust, auto's don't. The Mustang is a race car, I never messed with hooking up the e-brake. It looks feasible though. Hope this helps.

"plan B"

you can convert from stock 1 3/4 or 2" rears to 2 1/2" front drums mounted on the rear, cut a hole in the backing plate for the e-brake.

with the stock master, the rears will lock first with hard braking (I like it that way), if you want better balance add a adjustable porportioning valve.

it makes a big difference and is alot easier to do

disc brakes for 8 inch ford rear

The rearend is out of a Maverick..Its NOT the 8.8 you see in Rangers,Mustangs etc. Its looks like a regular 9 inch rear only its 8 inches.
I was in hopes of finding a setup that would work with this type rear end. Rather then replace the entire rearend.
Thanks for the suggestions...Ill try surfing the NET for a setup...again

Hey Mavman! Hang on. If you are in WV you are next to the king of Maverick,Chuck Stalnaker at the Maverick Connection.

You can also call Bendix and ask for the optional rear disc setup for the Granada models.Around '98 they still had them in stock.
Good luck and have a look at a hot Mav. www.santafuria.trix.net
