Post Ford 9" in a 57 chevy?

I'm building a stroker moter for my 57 chevy and I was thinking about putting a ford 9" rear end in it. It has the orig. rear end in it now and I don't know if it will hold up.
My questions are:
(1) Do you think the orig. rear end will hold up with the added torque and all?
(2) Should I put in a 9" or look for a 12 bolt?
(3) Are eather of these the right width for my car?
(4) I heard somewhere that you could get the gear ratio by turning the wheels and counting the revolutions of the tire and the drive shaft and deviding by something, Can you do it this way and what do you devide by?
Thanks! Rodrunner

Back in the sixties when I was just a lad there were all kinds of big torque and HP engines being transplanted into 57 Chevys. Most of them were installed "engine-only" and buckled right up to the PowerGlide and original rearend. 348s, 396s, 427s, 454s, 409s, 400s, as well as hot 327s and 350s, all made their way "as is" into that engine bay.
The thing is....those transmissions and rearends were only 10-15 years old then!
I would not go crazy and spend the bucks on a 9-inch Ford conversion but maybe a early would be appropriate. I'm going to put one in my son's 57 soon.
