Ford 9 inch oil capacity
Can anyone tell me how much gear oil I should put in my Ford 9 inch rear end? It was built by Currie a long time ago and I am doing a frame off rebuild of my '56 Chevy. I had Currie go through the gears and replace all the seals and I reassembled it. They sold me 3 quarts and the additive for the trac-Loc but I am not sure if I should put in all 3 quarts. I have read so many things that says different amounts; 2 quarts, 2.5 quarts, "full". Come on, really? "Full" was my favorite! There has to be a specification for this, I just cannot find it.
Thanks |

I did not know there was a fill hole in the front. I already put 2 quarts and the additive through the vent hole. I knew it was somewhere between 2-3 quarts so I just put 2 in. Since the car is a long way from being drivable, I figured 2 quarts was fine while I did some research to find out the proper amount. So I guess I will pull that fill hole in the front and add some more fluid until it gets to that hole.
