ford 9 inch question

im trying to graft a 9 inch into my 1984 monte carlo ss and im going to have to have my axles re-drilled for the correct 5 x 4 3/4 bolt pattern, but i noticed the axles i have, 31 spline from a 1979 F-150, have an access hole for the bolts holding the backing plate on. i am wondering if it is possible to have these particular axles re-drilled or if the acess hole is going to make it impossible. I cant get ahold of the guy im going to have redrill everything until after the holidays and i would like to know sooner than that. any help would be greatly appreciated. and a merry christmas to all.

The guy thats doing my 9" axles says its not a problem as long as theres only 1 hole. I think they weld up the hole or something.

I have seen many redrilled without welding the hole. NO problems.

You will probably have to have the flange diameter reduced in a lathe depending which brake drums/rotors you are using, unless you are using the truck brakes.

So you're going to need to have the rotors drilled for
the same 5 on 4 3/4" as well, as the Exploder has
5 on 4 1/2"...

Just a heads up...

K
