hello everyone i just got a 1965 ford f-100. it has no engine tranny or rear end so i stuck my 9 inch in there out of a 1967 f-150 and when i put on my 7.00-15 tires there is only like three inches of space on each side. and i want be able to have some fat mt/et street tires out back at least some 275s. can i shorten my 9 inch and how much does that cost? THANKS

Yes the 9" can be shortened but you need to have the wheels and tires you will be using on hand for measurments and mockup. You will need new axles or have your axles shortened and re-splined. As far as cost, by the time you have it complete, figure around $800.00 - $1000.00 if you have someone else do everything.

Depending on your area.

Labor to narrow housing.. $195.00 plus parts if any needed.
Housing ends if needed $90 to $100

If your axles are able to be shortened.. $ 150.00 for the pair plus parts if needed.

may be cheaper to measure that rear hub to hub and try to find one shorter.
