Ford AOD shudder

I have a 89 crown vic that as soon as the trans goes into 3rd there is a shudder and slow speeds,I thought it was a miss so I tuned it up with new plus, wires and distributor cap but still the same. All the old plugs were burning good and all the same so I doubt it was the motor, when the shudder comes on I can put in neutral and rev the motor and no shudder so its getting me thinking that the torque convertor could be going bad so anyone have any ideas.

Lube guard has a product under the moniker of ''Dr.Tranny instant shutter fix''...Find a bottle of it, and pour it into the trans....problem solved...That stuff works!

Not unusual with an AOD,replace the boost valve and get the kit Baumann Electronic Controls you'll think it is the best bucks you spent on your Ford.

Since an AOD does not have converter clutch setup like most domestics. The shutter may not b the converter. Although There is a splined hub that drives in 3rd gear. It is spring loaded. It mayy be bad. The lubegaurd is a quick test. Mayb it will help
