Post Ford auto tranny question???

Can anybody tell me the difference in Ford FX and FMX trannies? I have an FX out of a '68 full size Ford. It's coupled to 302 and has only 63,000 miles on it. I know the mileage is true because the car was owned by my old aunt.

Cool re: Ford auto tranny question???

The FMX has a filler tube that slides into the main cast iron case of the tranny.

The other cast iron tranys had a filler tube that threaded into the side of the tranny pan. These trannys were often refered to by size.. small ,medium or large case cast iron cruise-o's

These trannys are very similar in design, yet different .........if that makes sense.
