Ford Axle Swap 28->31 spline ???

Hello all,
I looked around but found no info on this...
Maybe someone can help.

I have a couple of Chevy circle track cars that run 9" rearends with 31 spline/ 5 on 5 axles. We are building up enduro cars and have access to a cheap housing that is already setup for Chevy suspension, but it is 28 spline, 5 on 4.5 setup. I have several extra hog-heads (31 spline) and tons of old 5 on 5 wheels. So I was going to convert everything over so that my hog-heads and wheels will fit.

I do not have access to it until after regular racing season. I need it built for the enduro one week later.

What is involved in switching that? Are the races in the housing the same? Can i drop in the correct length axle and be good. I am pretty sure i will need bigger seals since the axles are fatter, but i am not sure.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks ahead,

Big axles come in big bearing housings, of which there are 2 types of seals and bearings.

Some have tapered roller bearings that are lubed by the diff lube.
