I was told by a Ford Enthusiast that the bellhousing for a Ford 429 Big Block Cobra jet is bigger and deeper than other big block bellhousing and that I need that for clearance.
These are hard to find and very expensive and would like to know before I consider it the only solution.
I wish I knew what he is referring to. All 429's used the same bellhousing. If it was deeper, you would need a special F/4/S with a longer input shaft to fit it.
It sounds more like a clutch release problem. Use diaphram or finger style? Did you measure air gap between disc-flywheel/disc/plate when fully released? New pilot bearing? Input shaft bearing new? Needle bearings OK where main shaft enters input shaft? Any binding of throwout bearing on bearing retainer? Equalizer shaft bushings?
