Ford C-4 trans question

I got a 72 Ranchero today. 302/C4. It shifts a little late and harsh 1-2, and I have to let off the gas to get it to shift 2-3 when up to temp. It's fine when cool. I though the modulator was plugged to the wrong source, but it's not. I'll check some more in the morning. But, any ideas guys? Thanks

If your modulator is adjustable turn it ccw about 6 turns and see if it gets better. You might need to turn it out even more than that.
Pull vac hose off and look inside. Should be a slotted screw head in there.
