Ford cd4e transmission

My brother just got a 97 ford contour gl 2.5l v6 and the guy told him all it needed was a tss/vss and thats why the trans wouldnt pull. We asked around and some people said it could some said it wouldnt fix the trans not pulling.

We replaced the part and did nothing no pull and the od light is still flashing which we ran codes thats all we got on the trans with my mt 2500 code scanner.

We are thinking its the front pump or torque converter but we looked online for how to know and they said it would be making a whining noise and its not. The guy we got it from told use the transmission was rebuilt by some good old boys drove for 58 miles and quit pulling thats it.

Trans fluid is red, no burnt smell, and has enuff fluid.

Any one have any clue what to check or what to do now.

well i will check but if so do you have to pull the cradle to remove the trans. we more thin likly will be pulling the trans ourself in the drive way so if i dont have to drop the cradle it would be better for me.
