Post Ford Engine Identification

Is there any publication that can help with identifying Ford engine parts by casting number and serial numbers? I have seen one for corvettes called "Corvettes by the numbers", but nothing for Fords. I would like to research my block, crank, heads etc. for year of manufacturer, whether made for car or truck, etc. And research whether they were heavy duty / high performance or standard, and even what vehicle they would have rolled of the assembly line in.

I have a book by the same company (SA Design) "How to Build Max Performance Ford V8s on a Budjet". Its a great book and not only does it decode casting numbers on blocks, heads, and rotating assembly, but it also tells you the right ones to use and how to...obviously make your ford go fast on a budjet. I think its like 19.99 or something, you should check it out.
