I have a F-100 short bed, I restored the truck, the only thing I did not any to the transmission, it is a 3 speed with 450,000, I pulled the 3.70 ratio and I got a chunk with 2.73. After that rode great but no power, great for the interstate. The transmission is getting sloppy over 2 years.
Do anyone about the 1981 F-150 4 speed on the floor. It has and the toploader on top shift. The case is aluminum with a longer shaft, could I use the drive shaft might fit to my 9", my truck has a 240 cubic. Is there out of a good ratio? Do you know anything about the F-150 1981 to 1989?

The 1981 to 1985 F-150, six cylinders, transmission is are 4 speeds on the floor, the transmission is a toploader 3 speed with 4, shifter on top. I went to see a guy was not there, but his truck was still there. Yesterday, he sold his truck to for contractor helping. He had that truck for 640,000 miles with 2 rebuilt over 1981 to 2011. I wanted that truck or of the transmission. The transmission has 3 speeds and a tall 4, the chunk is not a 9", but the ratio is 2.73. I have a 2:73, but it is in my 40 ford coupe. I was looking for another 2:73 ford Van with 5 lugs. I would like to get that transmission.
