Ford F 150 ac trouble

On my 1993 Ford pu the air and heat both run until I unplug the wire that goes to a switch on the ac unit under the hood when its unpluged I have heat but when it is put back the ac comes on what can cause this to happen ?

The A/C compressor should run when defrost is turned on. It should not run in any other setting (except A/C of course) if it does it could be a wire that has been jumpered somewhere, or the panel switch is shorted.
