Ford F150 engine

hi everyone, i just have a question about my 1980 Ford F150, right now it has a 302 engine in it, and i was just starting to restore the whole truck, but my question is what engine should i put in it i want this truck more for playing around with, i know it is a heavy truck but my friend has a F150 with a 460cleveland in it and it goes pretty fast, but just give me some info on others engines or if i can keep the 302 and just modify it..

thanks alot

If it were mine, I would consider the truck 351W HO used in the mid-eighties (4180 HOLLEY) and later converted to EFI. Lot of torque and HP there.

thanks, how much do you think a 351w high output would cost at a salvage/ wrecker.

Hard to tell what they would ask. I would try to find one for a core and rebuild it to current specs. Upgrade the intake (carb) and valvetrain and that type of thing.
