[QUOTE=62galaxiguy]Should i go with the stock draft tube or convert to a pcv system?
Mike I too have a 62 galaxie. This is a g code 406 car and has the stock tube. The engine compartment is very detailed and I have had no issues with a mess and or blow by. I dont see anything in your build that would create excess pressure. I dont blame you on the valve covers....those things aren't cheap! |

run a hose from the draft tube to the airclener base (smog cars have tons of hose fittings in the base, I guess one would swap right in place of original); routing it around for a clean appearance?

What type of road draft tube provision do you have on the rear of the intake?
This is the early type and shows a PCV conversion. You do not need breathers in the rocker covers. It draws through the oil fill tube at the front of the intake (needs open breather cap).

pcv=much more effective way to get rid of moisture and nasty corrosive gases that condense and form in the motor every time it gets cold.....like every night whether you drive it or not
back in the "draft tube" days....recommended oil change was every 2,000 miles (oil is contaminated)....motors needed a re-build much sooner even with 2k oil changes (especially rings)....a part of the reason for both.....the draft tube and slow in town driving |
