Ford FE Vs. MEL

I was just wondering what the differences are between a FE and a MEL?

Thanks

Been a long time since I looked into those, but I don't think any of the parts
interchange either? Aren't the MEL engines a whole different engine, block and all? Yeah, looks like it by the below info.

There was an FE 410 that I believe was only put in a Mercury. If memory serves me correct I think it had a 390 bore with a 428 crank. I'm also thinking that there was a 383 MEL.

Your memory serves you correctly, the 410 was an FE, can't say about a 383 MEL.
