Post The Ford GT is back

Just thought I'd post this link. Looks like Ford is bringing back a version of the old GT-40 with a 500hp supercharged 5.4 engine. web page

This car was at Detroit last year...Awesome car.
The Ford rep up there told us they were only going to make 100 of them. $137'000 and all 100 were already sold before they were made.
Later,
WEIMER

If I had the cash I would buy it. Hard to believe at the dealership I worked at we had a waiting list for the Marauder when it came out and that's nothing compared to this car. 500hp at 5,200rpm and 500lb-ft at 3,200rpm, yee-ha!

It's about blooming time, you know you have to wonder about those in charge when it takes them this long to produce what is sure to be an absolute winner. The new Mustang and now this proves that there are no more good designers in Detroit when they have to go back 30 years to produce a winning design. At least they didn't mess with a good thing and left the basic look alone.

Congrats Ford, what the he11 took so long?!

Looks like Chucky has a new desktop photo too! :p

Well DM, you have been a good boy...so far. The Duke of URL has also been a model citizen. Let me do some accounting and see what I can come up with.

OOOPs! The wife just told me she wants me to get those penile implants she has been reading about, apparently their very expensive...let me do some financial finageling and see what I can work out.

Ahhh...sorry boys. It appears they charge by the inch and since I don't have much to start with it's going to cost some big dollars to do the job.

P.S. After the operation you can call me 12 Jaw Chuck! :p

HOOOOAAHHHHH!

Unhappy

The Duke of URL has been wrestling an MN-12 Thunder Chicken lately that has him going nuts.

Seems they (FORD) had the bright idea of suspending the engine/trans in the cradle riding on liquid (oil) filled mounts. The whole thing just shakes, rattles and rolls. Took out the u-joints and rear end (IRS) support bushings, could raise the rear of the trans 3" by pushing up on the drivesahft...replace the trans mount with a service replacement and have the same movement.

I am in the process now of finding aftermarket replacements.

Oh...did I mention you have to drop the exhaust and fuel tamk to remove the driveshaft? Never...never...ask me why I drink...

Sometimes you just have to wonder...

Kultulz,
Try mn12performance.com if you are looking for good aftermarket suspension components.
Also, tccoa.com has deals with certain vendors that will give discounts to thier club members.
(It's a good place to find some vendors for the MN-12)

And, yes, dropping the tank to get to the driveshaft is a pita. Had to do it when I had the shaft balanced on mine.

Just an observation but if they can get 500 horses out of the 'half water' gas we are stuck with today I wonder what the old 1950s type premium would provide. And did anyone ever think about the old 'joke' about running a car on water? We are half way there now!

Thumbs up

I talked to them last night finally. They only offer the trans mount (same for all models) and the engine mounts for the 3.8 Super Coupe. They are scheduled to bring out the 5.0 and 4.6 mounts after the first of the year.

I had a problem that I thought was convertor shudder, but after looking at the whole picture found the way they suspend the engine/trans leads to bad u-joints and it just gets worse when the differential bushings go. I bet Einstein couldn't have kept up with all the angles this thing had going! So I have my pinion angle back and if it starts to shudder again, will put the solid rubber trans mount in until I can get a full set.

It is one heck of a design though. A lot of potential in this platform.
