it's been done with 302 Fords....but it is major surgery (like no heater-AC) for the Ranger and suspension work and up grade the rear

the real beeetch is you end up with about a 70/30 weight distribution

? trade the blown Ranger for full size Chevy with a blown motor?

ranger chevy swap

I havent personally done this swap but have seen a couple locally. The chevy fits much better than the 302 ford. Those ford oil pans are a real PITA when it comes to front crossmember clearance. the chevy is a better engine anyway

A near bolt in. the only major construction is motor mounts. The stock trans mount can be modified to work. Any yes it fits better than a 302 Ford.

fits better????

a 302 and 350 are both 22" across the valve covers

If the 350 has a short water pump it is approx 2" shorter than a 302, (long pump it is longer than a 302), measuring from the rear block face

measure from the intake rear (350 dist clearance) it is 1/2" shorter with a short pump

either fits with about the same amount of aggrevation

at 575 lbs., the 350 =70/30 weight distribution ?

You might want to take into consideration that the Ford has a front mount distributor and the Chevy is in the rear, which is nice and close to the firewall. The Ford also is about 100 pound lighter than the Chevy, but you can lose some fat from that Chevy by bolting on aluminum engine parts.
