Ford Ranger and Mazda

I have a 1984 Mazda B2000 regular cab, and i was told and it looks the same as the Ford Ranger, it also has 6 lug wheels on it, which i thought odd for a small truck
Can i swap parts, such as e brake, gas tank, fenders, engine, trans rear end
Can anyone help me with this please
I really need to know if i have to search out hard to find parts or just get the ranger parts and save a ton of time and money
thanks alot
Richard in Ontario Canada

The Mazda trucks of today look like the Mazdas. Ford has a big stake in the Mazda corp....

Back in 84, the Mazda trucks looked the same, except for trim, as the Ford Courier trucks.

How's the Olds coming?

the olds is being sold for parts as the frame was to far gone and the body was way to far gone
I am really haveing a hard time finding parts for the mazda, i need the ebrkake and even the mazda dealer here says the don,t have one for that year.
But it does need a pair of fenders too thats why i wanted to know about the ford parts fitting it
i can make ebrakes fit from another truck i hope

I just checked at WWW. car-part.com and according to them, the 83 and 84 Mazda fenders are the same. It does appear that there may be a difference if it is a rotary engine. There is no apparent interchange between the Ranger and Mazda, as it usually will show both when they do. I think that may be before they started making the bodies the same.As for the 6 lug wheels, for some reason that was popular on the import trucks.

Buddy of mine had an 84...............it rotted so bad, that he couldn't close the doors. Better check it out carefully, they are rustbuckets too.

The old Ford Courier was a Mazda truck with an oval on it. Then when Ford introduced the Ranger, they started building the Mazda truck in their plant. Your truck was probably built in the Ford plant in St. Paul Minnesota, or maybe Louisville, or possibly Edison NJ (forget which year they converted to Rangers).

Not all bu t most Ranger parts should interchange.

I have had both Mazda and Ford Ranger shop trucks. THE SHEET METAL IS DIFFERENT!!. It may look the same at first glance but the body lines don't match up and the taillights, tho they look similar, are not even close.. Mazda and Ford Courier, yes. But Mazda and Ranger--NO!. Been there!!

mazda

the truck is in amazingly good shape, hardly any rust at all but for one spot beside the gas filler door. the rockers and cab corners are perfect and i mean perfect.
have the box off now ( without brakeing a bolt)
i do need a pair of front fenders because the are dented to much and a gas tank, the one on it has a few to many holes haha
the frame is solid as a rock and a great platform to play with haha

any help with finding a gas tank would be great
thanks for all the info guys it really helps

PS i found a place that has fender for about 50 bucks new

My friends gas tank rotted out. The gas tank shop said that they couldn't get one, but they redid his tank with some sort of rubber/gas resistant coating. He had the truck for a few more years without a problem.
