Ford rear diff ID help needed

I am doing my first hot rod it a 1989 ford ranger. With a 351w HO on of a 1979 ford van. I found a rear end under a truck bed trailer it a 196? truck.

here is my problem i don't think its the right rear end out of the 196? truck. I would like to know if its a ford 8 inch 9 inch or what it is for sure. Here is the info off the tag on the rear end

2 79 78c 833
its all so has the numbers 4025a on the center

If you get a socket onto the bottom nuts that retain the center section to the housing..... it is a 8 inch.

If the socket will NOT fit around the center section / pinion gear area , it is a 9 inch type.

EDIT: I also edited the thread title. I like the thread title to reflect what the subject / question is
