Post Ford straight six (Rogue 226) engine info needed

I am new to hot rodding and am looking for a book to help get me started on refurbishing a Ford Rogue 226 engine from a 1948 F2 3/4 ton pickup. I currently don't know much about engine repair, but am pretty mechanical and am willing to learn, work and sweat. I have done several searches on the web, as well as the previous posts and have not been able to find a source to get me started. Any help or comments for the newbie would be greatly appreciated.

cliffordperformance.com seems to be a good place to get part's. Inliners online club also seems to have a lot of info for striaght engines.

That 226 is a flathead 6cyl. It only puts out 90hp@3300rpm and torque of 180@1200. Hot rod parts are rare and expensive. Unless you are restoring the truck maybe you should think about upgrading the drivetrain to something newer with more power.
