ford taurus had kill switch removed, now won't start

dealership removed kill switch from a 2000 for taurus and car will not start now.
when looking under dash noticed a wire had 3 splices on it. i replaced the battery and replaced the ingnition switch. when i try to start it there is a clicking sound from under the dash around the brake pedal. when we checked amperage we were getting 12 amps from around the ingnition switch, but when we got around the wire with all the splices it dropped to 9 amps. could this be the problem? any direction would be helpful

Just a thought but does the Taurus have any kind of theft prevention in the start circuit like later model GM's do?

Some do, if it is equipped with SecuriLock passive anti-theft system it will only start with the specially coded keys. If your dealer unhooked or damaged the code reader it isn't going to start. I would take it back to the dealer and demand satisfaction.

The re-set for that switch is in the trunk, isn't it? I know my '98 had the re-set for the kill switch there, or was that the whole switch?

They were in the trunk on every Taurus I've been around. I don't know why a dealer would remove one.

The switch in the trunk was for the fuel pump and if it's equipped with the theft deterrent in the ignition cylinder there's no work around outside of car thief techniques. Why would this car have left the dealer not running? Personally, I smell fish.

ford taurus won't start

Let me explain. The kill switch was there to allow the dealer to send a signal to prevent the car from starting if you did not make a payment (a tote a note dealership). It was repoed and I took them to court to get the car back, and to removed the kill switch. There lies the problem. I need to figure this out but quick. Please Help.

You're pretty much on your own as there is no way of knowing how it's wired in. You'll have to inspect the wiring, see where it was cut, make sure each cut wire was mated back to itself. I'm still skeptical as to whether your story holds water or if you may be trying to skip out on a note. Sorry, worse examples have come in my shop and just last week we got a call to go hotwire a Range Rover.
