Ford Tranny Stuck in Drive

I have an 84 Mustang GT350 ConvertibleV8 with OD auto tranny. I recently pulled it out of the garage to wash it after it had been sitting for about 6 months, and it apparently stuck in Drive. I have no Reverse, Neutral or Park. I checked the linkage and it is intact and moves as it should. Does anyone have a probable diagnosis? Can this be fixed without pulling the tranny? Help!

Yes, everything on the outside of the tranny seems to be working as it should.

AOD Trans? Not AODE?
Maybe the Manual linkage inside the Pan came loose. I doubt the Forward clutches could be stuck from just sitting.

Friends Dad had a Grand Marquis, sat a lot. His TCC/TorqueConverterClutch somehow got permanently locked while parked. Wouldn't start or anything. I told him that it probably was the "TCC" but, he took it to a Local Ford Dealer, charged him $1800 My Brother in law at the time worked for a Trans shop, said they would've removed/rebuilt/installed for $1200.

Thanx for the interest. If it is the manual linkage inside the pan, can that be fixed without pulling the transmission out of the car?? The shifter goes through all the motions and the lever on the side of the tranny goes through all the proper "clicks", it just won't come out of drive. Also, it will start no matter where the shift lever is set now. The starter lockout is not working. It is an AOD tranny.

Yes, will have to drop the Pan to check linkage to Manual valve.

Thanx for the info. The next warm day, I'll jack it up, crawl under and check it out. You have a great Thanksgiving!
