well at the risk of anoying ford fans I think all the triton engines are poor at best. I think there would be some much bettter and sympler options

I think a Ford 400 would be a better choice! There is a lot of power available
in that engine with some easy mods. I have one in a '54 ford pickup and it will go faster than either the steering or suspension will handle....let alone the brakes and I have a 9 inch rear in it. I have a 2000 F350 with a V10, you can get more, cheaper with the 400 or a 351 w. |

I am in agreement with do what you want, I am putting a 390 in a '27.
I like to see a Ford in a Ford. My F350's V10's best mileage so far is 14.5mpg with a 3.73 rear and I am not pulling a motor home with extras! Neither does my neighbors V10 motorhome. Did you put a chip in it? Tim |

First, I'm not a fan of the triton. Too much crap for me, I get enough of that working on sport bikes. But you might want to do a search of threads, there was a thread about a month ago with several people having good success with their tritons. I would say that 14.5 is about mid teens, and that's about what we get, no matter how we try (even taking it easy), but we only use it on the road and with the air that the RV moves it doesn't even notice the trailer.

There was a '50 ford shoebox in Streetrodder with the triton v10 in it. it wasn't finished though just all polished steel. It was very cool.

At the FunFord weekend in Houston there was an SN 95 Mustang with a V10 stuffed in it. It looked cool and the owner smiled when asked about power, but for a street rod like your `56, I think a donor Cobra motor would be your best bet, it gives you plenty of power and brings it with todays technology. I am doing a `55 F1 now and it will be powered by a 5.0 EFI or a blown Lightning engine and an AOD-E.
