Ford Windstar engine interchange

Ford Windstar engine interchange - will 2003 3.8 fit 2000 3.8?
Need to replace the 3.8l engine in my 2000 Ford Windstar. Can purchase a low mileage 3.8l engine out of a 2003 Windstar. The Hollander interchange does not show the '03 as a replacement for the 2000, but it looks identical. The salvage yards I have contacted just look at the interchange books & say it will not fit. I know sometimes engines need the intake or exhaust manifold replaced or other adds ons switched to work on other years - but I could not find much info available on the Windstar 3.8l switch? Any info is appreciated - Thanks

the electronics are diffrent. if you transfer everything off your engine onto the 2003 engine, it will work. I'v done a trans on a '97.. it will be easiest for you to drop the cradle to get to the motor.

Windstar eng swap

We have a 2002. As indicated previously I believe this will work if you swap all your non-short block parts to the new engine. I would contact Ford to verify the short blocks are the same and the non short block items are interchangable.

Good luck with this, sounds like a bear to swap engines on this platform.
