Has anyone seen plans or have kwowledge of how to convert a 47-54 Chevy truck hood to a forward tilt?

If your a do-it-yourselfer, an 89ish Buick Park Avenue is just the ticket. Its on my 48 ford pick-up, and going on my 48 Chevy suburban.

I have keen interest in this post having a '48 F-1 which I'd like to do same with the hood. Is '89 the only Park Ave. that has a front hinged hood?? does Olds or another GM product with similar body share the front hinge concept??

I did a forward tilt on a 38 Chev PU- after welding all the sheetmetal, I made a frame from square tubing, got some large heim joints, bolted them to a piece of angle iron in the front, and used convertible top rams over the framerails to tilt the front end forward with the push of a button. Was simple to do and worked great. Bill

I have pictures, but don"t know how to get them to you except by mail. [ I'm conputer illiterate], and as you can see, I don't know if this thread is going to the right person. How do I respond to an individual when there are many threads? I guess I'm missing something here.
As for the years, I'm not sure, but all Park Avenues with that same body style will be the same. Probably late 80's to min 90's. Don't know about other GM name plates, as I've been out of the compamy and retired since the mid 80's.

Hi, the easiest way to address a individual reply is to do as I have just done by including all or a portion of the message as a quote. Just hit the [Quote] button at the lower right below the message that you wish to respond to.

To see those fins, click on the attached thumbnail picture to open a larger picture in a new window. It looks like 59 Dodge (?) fins and tail-lights have been expertly "grafted" onto the upper edge of the pickup box sheet-metal.

As far as sending pictures goes ... you'll need to digitize them first (scanner), save them as a file on your PC, then include that file as an attachment to your message. See the [Manage Attachments] button under the reply window

For anyone who is looking for reverse tilt hoods.....
Only Buick Park Avenues ....'85--'90
Only Buick LeSabres ....'86--'91
Also ,check with NoLimit Engineering (www.nolimit.net)Rob may have a kit that fits your application .
For old Fords check out Sacramento Vintage Ford (www.vintage-ford.com)
even AutoLoc (www.autothisworld.com) may have a universal type kit .

GMWillys - The fins are tail light fins from a early Caddiac. If you can get help in sending pictures you can send them diectly to me at......weldvair@aol.com

If you can get someone with a digital camera to take a picture it is easy to sent to me. If they have a digital camera they probably no how to send it.

Forward tilt hoods are a typical BMW feature, maybe get some ideas there as well.
