Found broken intake bolt in head

Hi all,
I did a upgrade to a 4V this summer and found a broken intake bolt in the head. I tried to get a easy out to take it out and broke it too! Now I am thinking about new heads. I have little experiance with major parts on engines but am mechanicly inclined. I bought a book by Tom Monroe "How to rebuild Small Block Ford Engines" and it says to use hi-temp Alu paint for head gasket sealer. Is this correct? I would appreciate any help I can get on this 289 head install.
Thx! Walt

extracting broken bolts

My dear ol dad showed me a way of extracting broken bolts that has yet to fail. I will tell you know it requires stick welding so if this is a prob you can quit reading now. Stick welder, a STAINLESS STEEL rod, that is the trick, a washer and a nut are needed. Tack weld several times, keeping area chipped, the washer centered over the broken bolt, be careful not to weld to surrounding areas. Once you have the washer welded to the broken bolt weld the nut to the top while hot you can spray with your fav lube, I like CRC, cool to the touch and extract by turning the nut. I have seen things come out that I laughed at him for trying. Also have losy many bets for a beverage before I figured out it works every dang time. Even works with bolts broke below the surface, be careful not to weld to the sides.

I would just follow the gasket manufacturers directions.

get a good grip on the broken bolt. then heat the area around the bolt real good. unless it was badly cross threaded, i will come out.

When all else fails....take the head to a machine shop and get them to take it out. I never use a sealer on head gaskets.
