Four bolt main

How can I tell if it is a two or four blot main?

Try looking up the casting numbers on a database, or pull the oil pan off and have a look.

Pull the oil pan and then hold up your hand, retract a finger for each bolt you see on one of the center three main caps.

If you have three fingers left you have a two bolt main.

If you have only one finger left you have a four bolt main.

If you have no fingers left then you should have shut the engine off before removing the oil pan. :p
