Frame

I sent an e-mail to Art Morrison a few weeks ago, He can make one for a Chevelle but not an Impala...they really look the same except the Chevelle has a shorter wheelbase...I will let you guys know how it progresses with photos ..I have the body almost finished...Floors, trunk, wheel wells were all replaced allready ..I have the body jacked way up on 4 x 4s so the frame can roll out from under it..It has been sitting on those 4 x4x for about 2 years now and the back one is starting to sag...Maybe I will just turn it over ..I hope that works out better than turning a flat tire so the good side is down... Good thing I am a pretty good gas welder...I suck at a MIG...have been getting better though..

Update

I called that frame shop here in PA..$1500 bucks just for the frame in peices and I would have to weld it myself...oh yea..I would have to bring my old frame down there so he could copy from it....I don't think so...I will have to keep looking for a local frame somewhere..

$1500? Thats not too bad if you can weld on your own, but just for some design work and cut pieces of tubing, yeah that can be a bit much. Keep in mind, that way though, your options are endless. So any hardware you want to use they can built it into the frame design. With a frame from another car, unless you do a fair share of modifying it can and will be hard to make anything from another vehicle fit.

Alternatively, its not too hard to design & build your own frame, but having proper equipment (such as plasma cutters & tubing benders) is vital.
