frame mounts for engine swap??
Hello everyone, i'm posting for my friend... he has a 1964 chevelle malibu that originally came with a 194 cid inline 6. He wants to swap the 6 for a sb350 i sold him. We're having trouble getting this 350 in and lined up. It seems the SB motor mounts are too far forward and barely touch the crossmember to mount it. Are there special frame mounts we need to make this swap work??...or do we have to customize and drill new holes in the frame??? thanks,

You need to use V8 frame stands to mount the engine. The 6 cylinder stands won't work. If you have the correct V8 stands, there should be holes already in the X-member to bolt them to.
As a test, you can mount the motor mounts to the engine and hang the stands from the engine mounts then carefully lower the engine into position and if the stands are correct, you should see the bolt holes where they mount. Then lift the engine back out of the way and bolt up the stands. The stands will look like these:
