Frame rust repair

I finally had a little time to work on my Italia project. I have found some more rust in the car. It is in the lower part of the frame. This car's frame is made out of 4" box.
I was thinking of cutting the bad bottom sections out and welding in new plate. Anyone have any other suggestions. thought I would ask before I jumped in too soon. What do you guys think?

John

No, it's not a common car. So cant find different frame. Another bad part is the body is welded to the frame so its going to be hard to fix. Good news is the tops and sides of the box are ok.

support the sides good, and weld in a new patch, or just rebox compleatly over the exzisting. what kind of car is it? is it that little convert in your photo gallery? that looks kind of like a Fiat Spider.

Keep in mind that rust is a form of cancer, except it is contagious. If you do not cut it all out, it will likely come back to haunt you. Any metal that comes in contact with it will also have rust damage soon.

Best bet it to cut out all rust damaged metal and replace it with new, unrusted material.
