frame #'s found on frame
I think I am dealing with a 32 Ford or Chevy frame.. I found some interesting stampings on top of the frame driver side just above the rear axle .. ( Star 18 sideways 1 then 140422 star ) any ideas what this means ?

It's the original VIN number of a 32 Ford.

Your 1932 Ford frame should be something like this ... dimension wise And you should find that same number on the left front frame rail where the firewall bolts on ...

I found this in one of your online albums. It is a 32 Ford frame ... or at least started out as one. The body is pretty much changed around ... but judging from the arm rest cut out on the what was the door ... I would say it started as a 32 DeLuxe 3 window coupe. Also the shape of the deck lid ( on photos found in your albums ) Here is a pair of 1932 3W armrests ... see out they would fit in the place on the side of the car before someone welded the doors shut and then cut off the roof ![]() I am fairly positive that your car started life as a 1932 Ford 3W coupe. ![]() Before it was channeled over the frame, had the doors welded shut and the roof removed. The windshield is not a 32 3W windshield. It is too square in the upper corners ... I think it is a 32 Ford roadster windshield frame ( the chrome part anyway. As Moderator ... I am moving this to General Rodding Tech ... because we have not really talked about Steering-Brakes-Suspension .

That's an interesting way of strengthing the front frame rails. Looks like a lot of work but I like the looks also.

Deuce ,
I wanted to thank you for taking the time to find out what my car really started out as ... Boy I wish I could return it back to its former glory . Those 3 windows sure look nice .. Well I am dealing with what I was given , So I march on .. I just wish it still had doors and a roof it kinda kills the lines of the car they way it is now .. But 20 years ago it still turned heads going down the street !! ..I may try to fill in the doors as much as possible to get the look I want sacrificing getting in and out of the car .. Again Thanks ! IF you look around ... 3W sheet metal and body parts/pieces show up every so often ... I have a friend who has built one from swap meet scores and eBay ... but he is a excellent body man ... I needed a good one to start with ... because I HATE bodywork

dash help
Deuce ,
What is that hole in the center top of the dash used for ? I have it on mine and it seems to be common on all 3 window coups. Also I am trying to fit in one of these fiberglass dashes to the bottom of the original dash ,, not having much luck . I unbolted behind the windshield what was left of the original to ge a better look . Any ideas ? See pic |

The hole in the upper dash rail is for the Cigar lighter ... The 32 3W coupe was only built in the DeLuxe version ... and was the first Ford to have a Cigar lighter. The glove box door also held a ash tray. Both the ash tray and the cigar lighter are VERY difficult to find in original form. So difficult that they are now being reproduced. Mine are original Henry Ford issued If your original dash will unbolt ... I would just buy a fiberglass 32 3W dash

I think I have one like that ( leaning on wall pic ) .. Just picked up on ebay but it does not wrap around to backside of the windshield like the original bolted in . How are people mounting this fiberglass one ?. You can see before removing the upper dash I might be able to use the white one 32 style but it also wont be pretty install

NEVER messed with one ... Maybe one of our other members with fiberglass 3W's will tell. I believe that they are glassed into the body and do NOT come out like Henry's does. Brookville Roadster sells a repro metal 32 3W dash with the dash oval already smooth and no cigar lighter opening.
