Franklin Speedster!

Growing up in Syracuse, I fell in love with the aircooled luxury cars that were produced here. This appears to be something a restorer put together from a parts car and a lot of ingenuity. I don't like the chrome yellow, BUT I dig the look and the fun factor!
Guys this stuff is still out there. Im not sure if it has an oak frame or not but the engine looks phenominal

It seems to be too good to be true, the price is too low, IMO. I don't believe a guy could build this car for near that price. I would expect it to be sold soon. Nice car!

You can't build one for that price. However when you restore franklins these days, unless you had all the trim pieces and a good drivetrain, you'd almost certainly lose money if you accounted for all the parts and labor. 1922 would have a non synchro 3spd, wood frame, and this car has no lights or front brakes, it really narrows the field of buyers. Additionally, the sort of 'standard' Franklin coupes and sedans before say 1929 don't often go for more than 30-40k as a nice driver car, unless its a superior resto, or has some real provenance, or is mostly factory original.

In 2005 a friend of mine sold his 1928 mdl 12a coupe; it had the wood rims, wood frame, sliding gear trans (double clutching is required for most people) and is really only good to 50mph or so. I think he walked away from it with $10grand in his pocket. It was an older resto, but hardly ever driven.
