Fresh 383 belt squeal noise

I just got done building a 383 and finished breaking in the cam yesterday. Anyway for some reason when the motor is running it squeals pretty loud. It sounds exactly like squealing belts but that's not the issue. Tomorrow i am going to take the belts completely off and run it for a few seconds to see if there is any change. I was also thinking it could be the gear drive but i really don't think it would sound that high pitch and loud. Any help would be great. If you need more info just ask, thanks

Its probably just the belt. My carb makes an extremely high pitched noise also, but dosent sound like a belt.

hmm yea im honestly starting to think/hope it is cause i cant really think of anything else that would possibly make that type of noise. Hmm ill check tomorrow, maybe my pulleys arnt lined up right or i don't have enough belt tension.

Make sure your timing tab isnt rubbing on the damper. I have seen this a few times and it makes a heck of a squealing or scraping noise.

Well i guess it isn't the belts haha. But i do think i know what it is, today i fired it up at night to move it a bit in my driveway and someone noticed there was sparks flying out from were the starter is. So i had someone else move the car and sure enough there was a blast of sparks that shot out from were the starter engages the flexplate. Soo my thought was that maybe the starter is not disengaging from the flexplate causing a loud squeal. What do you guys think. Tomorrow im going to try and shim it a bit and see if that helps. Its just you would think it would disengage at some point so im not sure.
