front disc conversion on 51 chevy 3/4 ton

got her up and running now i need to get her stopping.

would like to use her as a daily driver and work truck so i want to switch the frozen front drums with discs and switch to power brakes.
so far i think i will need

-a dual master cylinder
-proportioning valve
-checkvalve for rear drums
-power booster
-calipers,rotors W/ 3/4 ton lug pattern
- lines

kits look expensive 1000-1200
wanted to know if i could source some of this stuff from a later model truck or car at a junkyard. if so what models are compatable. first time so i would appreciate any advice or reccomendations
thanks alot

your sort of on your own.
the kits only fit 1/2 ton trucks unless some one has a new kit out.
of course there's always the hotrodders way; make your own...
look at the 1/2 ton kits and fabricate your own brackets

if you want to keep your under floor pedal:
you can use a kit there, but only the 7'' vacume booster fit and don't give much boost.
i used a hydroboost off a 03 mustang. you need a power steering pump to boost it.
i built my own mount to bolt it on the frame
if i had to do it over, i would use a heim joint and move the booster back a foot.

thanks for the info
why would you move it back a foot?

fabricating the bracket doesnt look too tricky.

i am more worried about getting parts that work together ie booster power pump and master cylinder and installing them correctly.

what model truck or car could i pull the rest of the parts off?

i want to keep the original wheels and spindles if possible.

really appreciate the help.

Scarebird isin the process of developing a kit for this model that will retain
the original hubs and thus the 8 bolt pattern if this will work for you. Jim
