Front Disc Rear Drum Brakes
I have a 76 Monte Carlo with front Disc & Rear Drum brakes. The latest car magazines are big on converting rear drum brakes to disc brakes. If I upgrade to high performance calipers, rotors and pads in the front and high performance shoes in the rear will this be good enough for street driving. My engine produces about 3 times the HP and Tq as the original 305CID. Thanks for the input.

street machine
if it is just a street machine i would just upgrade to good friction material, if you are going to domore than street driving then I would prolly upgrade the fronts to something bigger.

No matter what the HP is, the weight is still the same.
So stopping power would be the same. On the street all you will need is a good quality brake system.
