im currently building a 1950 chevy truck and would like to up grade my front drum breaks to disk. is there any year car or truck that i can swap from? im on a budget and frequent junk yards.

If you were able to purchase or make a pair of caliper brackets, you could then use break parts from a younger vehicle, otherwise you'll need to purchase the whole kit, you can pick-up a kit on e bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=190466599815 it's $280. + shipping, but the seller is in INLAND EMPIRE, CA, , so you may be able to save the shipping by picking the parts up. I'm in Pa, so I have no idea if that town Inland empire, is anywhere near you, but shipping is $75.

The caliper brackets in that kit most likely won't work on pickup spindles as the bolt hole spacing for the (I'd have to look under my truck) bottom backing plate bolts are different than on car spindles.
The rest of the kit would work though and a guy might be able to drill new bottom holes if there is enough material there.

If you look at this kit from the same seller that is minus the rotors and calipers it shows bearing spacers that are needed to make the Rotors fit the spindles.

Still the caliper brackets are the rub and would have to be modified or replaced with ones that fit the pickup spindles. That wouldn't be all that hard to do but would take a bit of fabricating and welding.

Well I can't edit and add it so here is another one I found when I came in for coffee and it gets down in the real low buck range except that the machine work on the spindles may run the cost up over the kit from the other vendor.

I saw your post after I poste this Richard and that link walks a person right though the process. The key to making the job easy is the spacers for the inner wheel bearings to adapt them to the spindles. They make it a no machine work deal.
