Front end suspention

I have a 69 chevy longbed pickup. I have a set of 20s on it, I need to know what year model trucks can I go to the salvage yard and get the front end off of that has disk brakes and has a 6on 5 1/2 lug pattern. I was told by afriend that 73-87 pick ups will fit. I really don't want to change to 5 lug because I will have to change the rear end also. I need some advise!

It is my understanding that you can just switch the axle shafts and brake drums ... and retain the original rear end ...

Chevy went to a wider rear end (longer axles) sometime during the '70 model year, so that might not work. Might post at www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard and see what you find out.

Early Classic Entreprises sells a 6-lug disc conversion for '69 trucks, but it ain't cheap.

front end suspension

I have had a few of those trucks(still do),but to my knowledge, you wont find a disc brake front end with the 6 lug pattern. When they went to discs they changed to the 5 lug wheels. This has been discussed here before maybe if you do a search you can find it.

IIRC, 39 Chevy is 100% correct. However, with today's CNC machining, you can probably get what you need made. Won't be for salvage yard prices though. I would start by contacting some of the performance brake companies direct and talking with them. Wilwood and the like.
