Bearings are absolutely no problem - but - what hub are they going in? The inner diameter (ID) is determined by the spindle. The outer (OD) by the drum/disc hub.
Spindles - well they are often an after market part - but they can be Ford, Chevy or whatever design is available and often determined by the axle supplier whether stock, late version, early model, after market. Then of course, you get into the problem of putting hydraulic brakes on a formerly mechanical brake spindle - and that's another worm bag When you have the spindle and the hub in hand, any decent bearing supplier can set you up. i will try to get a picture posted.i think the brake shoes and the way they attach look like 40 ford brakes.i do have bearings and they do have numbers on them but so far carquest, federated and one independant parts store in my area havent been able to cross reference them.i bought a bearing set from macs antique auto parts that were suppose to fit 28 to 48 ford spindles but they didnt fit.the front hubs have a 5.5 on five bolt pattern is another reason i was thinking ford spindles.i took a measurment on the diameter of the inner bearing id that measurment was 1.280 in.there no casting marks on spindles and no stampings on backing plates.sorry for the novel size post

I called our local REAL parts store (not a McParts store like Auto Zone) and they have both these bearings in stock, inner and outer. The newer number is a "B02" and a "B01".
He noticed something I hadn't that's pretty funny. You have a Bearing number of 109606, that's the "race" number upside down! LOLOL 909601=109606 Bring them down to a REAL parts store and they should be able to hand you new ones. Brian |
