front suspension

over the winter i'm planning on rebuilding the frt susp on my 54 ford, the first year with ball joints. i've never done a front end before so i've been scanning the related posts and have picked up a few useful tidbits such as marking coil spring/seat position and torquing the lower control arms at ride height, things i wouldn't have thought of. i'm going to be doing it soup to nuts. i have a shop manual on this car and i'm going to read through that section but if anyone out there has any tips, thoughts or anything to contribute, i'd appreciate it. thanks in advance. fiddyfofoad

I suggest looking at the Jamco catalog ...

http://www.jamcosuspension.com/products_suspension.html

They have disc brake conversions ... suspension upgrades and good products ... not exactly low priced but then , quality always costs ...

People have been using the mid 70s "frame" Torino and sister 77-79 T-Bird/LTD II spindles directly onto the 56 Fords. Is the 54 the same?

front susp

i'm pretty sure i'm going to get the kit made up by kanters. it has everything except springs and shocks. i haven't had this car on the road yet so i'm not doing any major mods, at most dropped spindles maybe. should have done the susp when i did the brakes, now it all has to come off again. was too close to the trees so to speak. pratice makes perfect. fiddyfofoad
