Front suspension on 1938 International 1/2 ton truck

Hi folks;
I am looking at a 1938 International 1/2 ton truck and have some questions regarding the front suspension and brakes.
Firstly, what would be an economical way to lower the front
end without going subframe or rack and pinion mod/install.
What rebuilds would be necessary? Are there any suitable
steering mods? What brake upgrades could be done without
major changes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am just getting into
streetrodding. Been working on other cars for many years, but
have always wanted a hot rod truck.
Thanks again,
Googles Pisano

Take a look at the knowledge database for frontend clips etc. there are a couple of boltin suspension swaps, also the 77 Chev pickup has a removeable (read: unboltable) front suspension as well.

Street Rods and mods cost $$$$$. You will need a doner vehicle to rob and plan on doing some design work too. Make it strong and classy, don't bugger it together and expect it to hold up. Weld and bolt where applicable. Measure three times and measure again before you CUT ANYTHING!! Good luck, have FUN or pay someone to do it for you and save yourself the headachs!! There is never any shame in having a professional do the work for you, just don't ever try and claim his work for your own. For instance, I tried to install my own head liner, forget that!! Its a job for and octopus and a leprechaun.

What I am doing to my 38 IH

I ordered a 4" dropped front axel with a transverse leaf spring, (suicide front end) and am installing a ford Ranger rear end connected to a 305 Chevy & AT.

This is going to lower this puppy to a real nice stance. I'll post pics ASAP.
