Fuel coming back up through EGR plate/valve.....car died......whats goin on here?

I took off all the emissions mumbo jumbo on my 1973 351C 2V motor and on the way home it died on me and wouldnt start back up..........fuel was leaking from the egr plate and seemed to be backing up through the valve on the plate...wouldnt start and stay running unless i stayed on the gas........what is goin on here?......i plugged everything off so that there were no vacuum leaks.......and it seemed to be running fine......it happened sooo randomly...and ideas??

egr could be open... that will stall an engine.
I would block it off. if its blocked off with a plate and
this happened I don't know what to tell ya.

Sounds like the carburetor is flooding and you just happened to have a bad carb mounting gasket along with it. Or the EGR spacer is burnt up.
